Pileeated Woodpecker - Finally got a couple of shots of one of these at Vischer's Ferrry Nature Preserve. Usually I hear them (their unusual call and their very loud rapping) but don't see them. This one was at the top of a dead tree, but, unfortunately was very backlit making for not a great picture. Posted by Hello

Great Grey Owls - Montreal Posted by Hello

Great Grey Owl - Montreal Canada
These Owls normally live far north of Montreal but a lack of food source this year forced their movement south for a while. They were in some large fields on Isle Bizard wich had many large snow mobile trails. The owls were in trees sometimes near the trails and sometimes a little off.
They are a very large bird about 2 st tall and are quite impressive to see. There were tons of photographers visiting them and they were not afraid but seemed to like the attention. It was worth the drive up there to see them.

Brooklyn Parrots
When visiting my sister-in-law in Brooklyn she asked if we wanted to go to see the parrots that live in a local cemetary. Being that I like to photograph birds I said sure. I was supprised when we got there to see a large nest (about 8-10 feet tall in a bell tower). There were about 20 green Monk parrots perched and flying around. They probably started with a pair that was let or got loose. They seemed to have adapted to the temperature changes quite well.Posted by Hello
